Tehran Times Culture Desk

TEHRAN -- Mostafa Mofidi is currently translating “The Angel of Darkness” by Argentine novelist Ernesto Sabato.

The Persian translation of the Spanish language novel will be published in the near future.

Mofidi previously translated Sabato’s “The Tunnel” and “On Heroes and Tombs” which were published by Nilufar Publications.

Sabato examines the struggle between good and evil in 1973 Buenos Aires and the relationship of torture and fanaticism to the urban drama.

Born in 1911 in Buenos Aires, Ernesto Sabato’s novels are notable for their concern with philosophical and psychological issues.

Sabato’s political and social studies were highly influential in Argentina in the latter half of the 20th century.

Acclaimed authors, including Albert Camus and Graham Greene, lauded his novels.
